A Refurbishment Asbestos Survey of the main school boiler room had identified residue beneath modern insulation on pipework and to all surfaces in the room.

Jackson Environmental were awarded the contract to remove ACM’s from the basement boiler room to facilitate installation of new boilers and equipment.

The school would be occupied throughout the asbestos removal works.

Our proposed methodology for removal of the asbestos by abrasive blasting was accepted by the project manager and School.

Abrasive blasting in an asbestos environment is extremely difficult and the specific issues that arise require additional control measures that must be rigorously implemented.

We have successfully completed a number of wet shot blasting projects over the last 15 years and our site teams are trained and experienced in specialist abrasive removal methods.

After initial enable works, services were isolated and redundant boilers, pipework and equipment were cut out.

All paint and asbestos residues were completely removed from the room leaving no asbestos legacy for the remaining life of the building.

We completed the work in 13 days and handed the boiler room back to the M&E contractors a day early.
